The Shack

Well the shack changes quite a lot, I decided to try some Clansman ex British Army radio equipment recently which has taken over nearly half of the shack!

The other half of the shack is modern!

The main transceiver at the moment is the Icom IC-7400 with Heil HM-i Microphone
A KW100 Linear
A Palstar AT-2k does all the tuning from 160m to 6m.
There is a Yaesu FT-8900 I use for simplex 2m/6m/70cm and repeaters locally.

When given half the chance I would rather be portable /QRP

Depending on the amount of space and how far i'm going to have to carry the equipment when I get there defines what kit I pickup.

When operating lightweight I like to take the FT-817nd powered by a small lead sealed battery(3.2ah)
A lightweight solar panel to keep the battery topped up.
The Buddipole deluxe antenna system so I have lots of choice of bands etc.

If I have plenty of space and helpers I like to take:-
The FT-897d and the MD-100 desk microphone.
An LDG Z100 auto ATU to tune endfed wires either up a tree or under a kite.
A 24ah lead sealed battery
The Buddipole
A 12m Racal mast for the resonant dipoles and various doublets

If i'm only going to be active for a short while I take the Clansman PRC-320 manpack for its ease of use and everythings in the bag..
I say shorter use because the fact of not being able to charge the 24v batterys while portable.

This Page needs updating..

Not very tidy at the moment!
